For ages 18+ and all abilities.

Overview

This course invites participants to explore 66 Portland Place, the home of RIBA, and the institute's new Clore Learning Studio through photography, creating improvised interventions with a professional dancer and a parkour athlete. Course Description
The day will look at photography as a versatile tool for exploring architectural space using performance, the human body, and objects. We will take inspiration from RIBA’s photographic collections and from discussions between the participants and performers. Working individually and in groups, we will challenge conventional ideas of boundaries. Participants will develop their own photographic projects on the interaction of the physicality of the human body with architecture. Learning outcomes will include an understanding of contemporary photographic practice on art and architecture, a conceptual approach to the representation of space and its social values, and how to construct visual narratives. In addition, participants will improve their technical skills as photographers. This course will provide a playful, creative arena for exploring personal, intellectual and emotional responses to space.
